Located on the grounds of Westview Church in Waukee, The Fruitful Vine Garden was started in 2009 to provide fresh produce to patrons of the Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry.
In its first season, more than 400 pounds of produce -- tomatoes, peppers, cantaloupe, watermelon, squash, eggplant, pumpkins, beets, turnips and cucumbers were harvested -- all grown chemical-free.
The garden is a collaborative effort of volunteers, including individuals, families, community groups, and members of the Dallas County Master Gardeners.
All types of volunteers are needed, whether you would like to "adopt" a section to care for, or if you would like to occasionally come out and pull weeds or water plants. The garden is funded entirely by donations.
